Warneford Meadow

One side of Hill Top Road backs onto Warneford Meadow and the playing fields of Warneford Hospital.

In 2006 a number of planning applications were submitted by Oxforshire & Buckinghamshire Mental Health Partnership Trust for the development of the meadow and the playing fields. Together with many other local groups, Hill Top Road Residents' Associaton opposed the planning applications, which were withdrawn in November 2007.

Separately, an application has been made to register Warneford Meadow as a Town Green, based on public use of the land over the last 30 years. An Inquiry into the application recommended that the meadow be registered as a Town Green and this was confirmed by a decision of Oxfordshire County Council in April 2009. We are now waiting for the response of the NHS as landowner to the decision.

The Trust has stated that no further development proposals for the Meadow will be submitted at least until the Town Green application has been determined.

A number of our members are involved in the Friends of Warneford Meadow campaign group, which is leading the fundraising for the legal costs of the Town Green Inquiry and organises fundraising events.

If you would like to make a donation to the Town Green application, contact David Sutton at No. 12.
